This message was sent by Sosai Masutatsu Oyama to all KYOKUSHIN PRACTITIONERS AROUND THE WORLD AND IS STILL VALID TODAY”

”Kyokushin Karate will save the world”

Sosai Oyama

We are a strong organization that maintains the same belief, purpose, and idea without consideration of the frontier, race, or religion.  Together we choose our own destiny, and we even consider ourselves as one big family, because of this I decided to send this call out to all of you.

These days, the egoism, synonymous of individualism, the licentiousness, and the indolence instead of liberty are the common denominator between the youth well fed and well dress on some liberal countries. The immorality goes on (advance) and the decency become relaxed.

Not only the spirit but also the body have been damaged because of the bad habits people have to choose their food, which have to depend on preservatives in order to preserve their food.  This inclination (tendency) are more notorious on places called developed countries.  On the other side there are countries like the ones in Africa where they do not have even the guarantee of a bite of food, as a consequence they become exposed to famine.

From the national point of view we can observe some countries taking advantage of others for their own benefit.  We know that antagonism of Ideology, races, and religions exists in this world. Unfortunately, it looks like we have a long way to go before we can establish peace in this world. I as a Budoka and one who has dedicated my life to Karate, cannot avoid being deeply concern about these phenomenon.

Then, how we can arm our spirit? This can be done by Kyokushin Karate, with their spirit and ideology, to become a reasonable human being. There are no witness if there are not tangible prove, not credibility if we do not have an evidence, not respect if we do not have a belief.

The ideology of Kyokushin Karate puts emphasis on the family and our homes. In other words, the essence of Kyokushin spirit is “Bend your head and rise your eyes, keep your mouth closed and free your mind, as a starting point you should serve other with filial humility “. “Bend your head and rise your eyes” mean that you must be ambitious, but always be modest with with your words and your behaviour. “Keep your mouth closed and free your mind” mean that you must not show too much your own feeling and be generous to others. You should be friendly and make diligent effort, also be honest in everything you do. “With filial humility as a starting point” mean that this filial humility toward your parents is the centre of everything. This loyalty will allow you to be modest, respect the sky, believe in God, be humble with your parents, trust on your friendship, and respect your teachers, all of this will drive you to love your home, your city of birth, and your country. “Serve others” mean that you must contribute to the people around you, in others words contribute to society. This also mean be loyal to your country.

I would like to emphasize that there is no other than the spirit of Kyokushin that could save this confused world of today. I have travel abroad 280 times on the past, to spread, to teach, and compete on Karate. Thanks to those visits and the cooperation of the Branch Chiefs in charge of each country of the world, the Kyokushin Karate have become a big organization of 12 million of adepts in 123 countries, the number is not small. We are a well organize organization and we can consider ourselves like a big state.

I am very anxious in respect to the end of this century. We should eliminate the crisis of the war and make a healthy and peaceful world. I am sure you will understand my feeling. I would like to request you to make all the effort possible, in your own countries to obtain a real peace on this planet.

                             Establishment

We are starting “The World Karatedo Federation Kyokushin Kaikan, World Sokyokushin”. This is done in earnestely intend to succeed, and spread correctly Sosai Oyama Masutatsu’s Kyokushin Karate.

As a result of Kyokushin Karate being divided into many minor groups, the number of dojos have increased suddenly and dramatically all over the country. It is good that we can train easily, but some people who use the name ‘Kyokushin’, are not in fact real Kyokushin shihan, but are only trying to gather students. Two shihan are concerned about this situation.

                                                Reach to an establishment

After Sosai Oyama passed away, Kyokushin Karate was divided into minor parties and became mixed up. Receive Kyokushin Karate correctly, purely, and get down to Keiko. Those who do not follow the correct way. Those who declared themselves ‘sensei’ or ‘shihan’. They use the name of Kyokushin, however they are not. “Can he really do Karate?” “Does he really know Karate?” These suspicious people call themselves ‘shihan’. In spite of this, people all over the world have come to strive to seriously practice Pure Kyokushin Karate.

The president and vice president will lead this group-“I would like to spread true Kyokushin Karate correctly in the world. I would like to honor Sosai Oyama’s last wish correctly.”

HK7A4797[1]                                                       KAZUYUKI  HASEGAWA 9th Dan Hanshi                                                                                                                                                                                   Supreme adviser

Kazuyuki Hasegawa is the highest Shihan who is the president of the new organization (Sokyokushin). He became a pupil of Kyokushin Kaikan So honbu dojo in 1967. He won the 3rd prize in the 1st All Japan Tournament in 1969. He had a brilliant championship in the 2nd tournament of the next year. His nickname is “The small giant”. He established the Tokushima branch dojo from 1970. (He also established the Aichi branch dojo in 1978).  Moreover, as a leader, he has brought up many world champions and all Japan champions. He contributes immensely to Kyokushin Kaikan.

Shihan Daigo Oishi                                                            DAIGO OISHI  9th Dan Hanshi                                                                                                                                                                                                        President

The other highest shihan, Daigo Oishi is the Vice president of the new organization (Sokyokushin). He became a pupil of Kyokushin Kaikan So honbu dojo in 1969. He won the 3rd prize of the 3rd Japan Tournament and 4th prize of the 6th All Japan Tournament. And in the memorable 1st World Tournament he won the 4th prize. Because of his excellent record, he became Sosai’s Uchideshi and was given masterful instruction for 5 years. His foot work was sharp and called ‘Yoto Muramasa’. Because Oishi Shihan’s technique had a sharpness and deadly force that reminded Oyama Sosai of this famous sword ‘Yoto Muramasa’. He was also acclaimed as the “genius of kick work” by Sosai Oyama. He established the Yamanashi branch in 1976. He also established the Shizuoka branch in 1977. He was always on the front line like Shihan Hasegawa.

The feature of Sokyokushin

First of all, these two high Shihan are having steadfast and they are in charge of instructing still now. This is the feature of Sokyokushin. ‘Saying neither the status nor a title.’ Both Shihan that command the organization who wears karategi and are sweat instructing shed in training at dojo still now. This is just an only the best means of succession and tradition of the right Kyokushin Karate.

Aims

The World Sokyokushin’s president Hasegawa highest Shihan, and Vice president Oishi highest Shihan, are Oyama Sosai’s direct pupils. Their Karate is ‘pure Kyokushin Karate’, directly from Oyama Sosai. To succeed and hand down correct Kyokushin Karate without impurities, and to continue development together, regardless of groups or factions, are aims.

People both inside and outside of Japan who support these aims will raise the quality of Kyokushin Karate. There is no unilateral promotion. It may take, rigorous examination and “official recognition” which can be announced publicly presuming ‘kihongeiko’, ‘idogeiko’, ‘kata’, ‘hokyo’, ‘kumite’. Of course, about tournaments, we also hold them with the same idea in mind. They are not a mere trial of one’s strength, and number collection, but they are ‘Budo Tournaments’, appropriate for Kyokushin Karate.

Additionally, we have a website, and periodically publish media, such as magazines, to disseminate information about Kyokushin Karate activities.

Please visit our website, and reflect upon the history of Kyokushin.

Let’s return to the heart of Kyokushin.
